Travel by Air


Visitors flying in to Porto arrive at the Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport located 11 kilometres north of the city. TAP Portugal and PGA - Portugal Airlines are the Portuguese main carriers. Direct flights from Frankfurt, Paris, London, Dublin, and Liverpool are available. From the airport, visitors can easily get to the city using public transport or renting a car.

Car Hire and Road Travel


If you wish to visit some interesting towns outside of Porto it might be best to hire a car. Several well known car hire firms have their depot in Portugal's second largest city.

Car Parking


The university has an allotted parking space for students and guests, but car parking permits need to be secured first from the university security office. Parking in the city is very difficult, especially if you park along the roads. Visitors are advised to use the parking garages around the city.

Travel by Trains and Rail


Porto's main rail system is the Porto Metro System, which presently has five lines: A, B, C, D, and E. From the airport, visitors can take line E (purple) to the city centre where the university's Pole 1 and main building are located.

Travel by Buses and Coachl


The main bus service in Porto is the Aerobus operated by STCP. It ensures fast connection from the airport to the main hotels, university, and the city centre. Tickets can be bought in the airport and in the bus. Visitors going to the university should take bus 56 and bus 87. Each bus stop has a list of bus schedules.

Travel by Taxi


Taxi services are usually available from the airport. Visitors can take the taxi when going around the city but the traffic congestion can become an inconvenience.
